Albany County and the Capitol Region,New York
Many of
the County Links on the left will keep you specifically in Albany County here in the Saratoga-Capital Region of New York. New links and listings are added often. The banks of the Hudson River served as a stopping place for Henry Hudson and his ship the Halfmoon in 1609, as the explorer sought a Northwest passage to the Orient. Later, fur-trading post called Fort Orange would be established by the Dutch West India Company. After the British drove the Dutch out in 1688, the settlement was granted a city charter and renamed after the Duke of Albany. This Charter is still in effect today in the Capital City, the oldest one in the country. We encourage you to experience the city and county of Albany and the Capital Region of New York State. Conveniently located at the crossroads of the Northeastern USA, scenic byways which inspired Grandma Moses will lead you toward the finest thoroughbred racing, outdoor activities, historic riverboats, family festivals, and the living history, architecture, and hospitality of New York's Capital Region.
