Many of the County Links on the left will keep you specifically in Dutchess County here in the Hudson Valley Region of New York. New links and listings are added when submitted to us or when found by our research team so be sure to check back often. The county seat is Poughkeepsie. Franklin D. Roosevelt lived in his family home in Hyde Park, overlooking the Hudson River.

Prior to the 1960s, Dutchess County was primarily agricultural. Since then the southern part (from Poughkeepsie south) of the county has developed into a largely residential area, suburban in character, with many of its residents commuting to jobs in New York City. The northern region of the county is still very much rural with large farmlands but at the same time developed residences used during the summer and or on weekends by people living in the New York City urban area.

Stroll across the Walkway Over the Hudson, trek on the Appalachian Trail, and sip wines along the Dutchess Wine Trail. Take a tours of the FDR National Historic Site, or a spin on the Dutchess County Fair Ferris Wheel. Get a taste of the Culinary Institute of America restaurants. There are cruises down the Hudson River, bushels of pick-your-own apples, and contemporary art from modern masters. Lots to do here!
