Madison County is a gem in the heart of New York State, with a rich history and scenic vistas. With Oneida Lake as the northern border, 14 other lakes, the Erie Canal, and many square miles of publicly-owned land, it has a wealth of opportunities for outdoor recreation, while shoppers find bargains in the antique shops and specialty stores scattered along our roadways and in our charming villages. The county is particularly rich in hunting and fishing locations.
Agriculture has traditionally been the economic base, but you'd be surprised at the variety of business activity in the area. It has high technology companies, manufacturers, inventors and entrepreneurs, artists and craftspeople. We've heard from people who fell in love with this area over the Internet and relocated here as a result.
Morrisville State College is located in Morrisville and The First National Bank of Morrisville, Morrisville Public Library, and Old Madison County Courthouse are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
